Do the Math
If you're quoting on a 20 square roof, here's the comparison between a complete re-roofing job, including disposal fees and applying Shingle Life:
Complete Re-roofing
20 square X $200/square = $4,000 (the $200/square may vary depending on shingle type, roof complexity, etc.)
Shingle Life Application
20 square X $20/square = $400 (the $20/square allows for roughly $10/square over the material cost)
Can you see why the customer may want Shingle Life and how you can profit as well?
What Do I Need to Apply Shingle Life?
Shingle Life can be applied by sprayer, brush or roller although the recommended method is by spray. A typical garden type sprayer is sufficient, although it may pay to invest in a low pressure pump which can be towed or mounted in your truck. This will eliminate the necessity of moving pails of Shingle Life to the roof. Other suggested tools are listed separately on this website. By purchasing 55 gallon drums of Shingle Life, you not only receive a lower cost per gallon, but can service several homes or buildings on the same trip out.
What is the Coverage Factor?
The suggested coverage of Shingle Life is one gallon per square of roof (100 sq. ft.)

Why Should You Suggest Your Customers Have Shingle Life Applied To Their Roofs?
Shingle Life offers an inexpensive solution to re-roofing. When your customer says they can't
afford the cost of a new roof, you don't have to walk away without a sale. Instead, you can suggest
they have you apply Shingle Life which will extend the life of their roof for a fraction of the cost
of a new one.
In addition, you can apply Shingle Life in just a few hours without the fuss and muss of roofing
debris, removal/disposal of tear-off waste and with less labor than that required for re-roofing.
More importantly, Shingle Life is a preventive maintenance product. Just as home owners and
facility managers seal their wooden decks and asphalt driveways, clean their gutters, fertilize their
lawns and paint their buildings on a regular basis, so should they rejuvenate their roofs. Shingle Life
can be marketed and sold to your customers as something they should apply every 3 years.
How Safe is Shingle Life?
First of all, Shingle Life is a non-hazardous, non-toxic, non-flammable water based emulsion.
It will not harm shrubbery, grasses or other vegetation should some over spray or run off occur.
Any spray on non-shingle surfaces, such as siding, decks, etc., can be easily cleaned with soap and water.
Since Shingle Life contains droplets of soybean oil, the roof surfaces where Shingle Life has been applied
will be slipplier than on non-treated roof surfaces. For this reason, Shingle Life should be applied with
caution, leaving the area next to the ladder or other means of exiting the roof until last. |
